Week 4 Updates
Nicole
This week, we have interviewed with Mother's Matter Centre - Debbie and Wazi which are their CEO and director of the multicultural program. Throughout the interview, we learned the common struggles of single-parent families: poverty and isolation. They also provided their data, program information and stories to us to develop our project. They have also suggested contributing to one's community and empathy are the main reasons of people to donate.
After the interview, I have gathered the information into a document and adjusted our web structure by discussing with Kristine. Last week we have a rough web structure with minimal content. To show the problems of single-parent families, we decided to have two themes throughout the website which are financial issues and social disconnection. I have also refined the wireframes to match the structure and make sure the flow of the website is smooth.
We also decided to conduct interviews with single-moms this week after the meeting with our mentor Marek and decide our detail web content later on.

This week, we together interviewed mothers' matter center. After the interview, we organized and concluded the interview result. Based on our conclusion, we refined the web structure together(Nicole has mentioned details above).
For the back end part I imported the single parent data in our phpMyadmin, then called them in JSON, and used d3.js to visualize the single parent data on the website. For the front end part, I created the skeletons of landing page and data analyze page so that I can simply change the copywriting, image, any CSS part easily when our visual design is finished. I applied couples of javascript libraries to our website, including scroll trigger animation, detect if the element visible in the viewport, some simple animation which can make the website transition better.
